These are the groups who actually stay with us, and what each one needs is different enough to be worth spelling out.
Squad & coaching staff
Sixteen beds, three bathrooms and a kitchen that can produce breakfast for a team before an early start. Room to park a van, space to spread gear out, and a game room with a pool table for the evening before.
Family weekend
The point of these weekends is usually a proper meal together—your student, their roommates, and a table big enough for all of it. Hotel rooms don’t give you that; a kitchen and a long table do.
Fixed date, books out early
The single busiest weekend in Arcata. Rooms across town fill months ahead, and extended families routinely end up spread across three properties in two towns. One house keeps grandparents, siblings and the graduate under one roof.
Longer, quieter stays
Midweek and multi-week stays work well here. It’s quiet at night, there’s space to work, and a kitchen means you’re not eating out for a fortnight. Ask us about longer-stay rates.
Base camp for the weekend
Humboldt is a popular place to get married and a difficult place to house a wedding party—venues are often out among the redwoods or on the coast, with very few beds nearby. Baywood works as the base: the party stays together, gets ready in the morning, and comes back to somewhere comfortable afterwards.
Prospective students
Usually a shorter stay, often with siblings along. Worth building a redwood day around it—the Community Forest runs directly behind the university, and Moonstone Beach is fifteen minutes away.

Getting there
Cal Poly Humboldt sits at the top of Arcata, on the hill, with the Community Forest immediately behind it.
From Bayside it’s roughly ten minutes—out to Old Arcata Road, into town, and up the hill. No freeway, no traffic to speak of, and easy to do twice in a day if the schedule needs it.
Book direct
Graduation and move-in weekends book out furthest ahead. If you know your date, book it early—those weekends fill before anything else in Arcata.
